Suite Scarlett!
Hey, everyone! I just recently finished a book called Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson (Author of 13 Little Blue Envelopes). It was SO amazing. I was a little out-of-focus for some of it (mostly because I was tired), but I pretty much got it!
So...
Scarlett Martin's family owns the Hopewell, a small hotel in the heart of New York City. She has a nineteen-year-old brother, Spencer, looking for work in acting, and facing a family deadline to get his acting career together. Lola, eighteen, has looks, practical-ness, charm, and a wealthy boyfriend. Marlene, the terror of the family, has a tragic past of cancer.
When each member of the Martin family turns fifteen, the are each assigned to take care of a suite in the once elegant, now shabby Art Deco hotel. For Scarett's fifteenth birthday, she gets a room called the Empire Suite, which is either a high honor or a gesture that says "we don't want you to have to deal with any guests". Unfortunately for Scarlett, she ges a permanent gues, Mrs. Amberson. Scarlett doesn't know what to make of his C-list starlt, world traveler, a aspiring autobiographer who wants to take over Scarlett's life. And when Scalett meets Eric, a gorgeous actor who just moved to the city from Virginia, her assumingly boring summer takes an unexpected turn.
With Mrs. Amberson calling all the shots, Spencers career tosave, Lola's love life to navigae around, and Marlene's prying, nosy eyes everyphere, things won't be easy. Before this summer is over for Scarlett, she'll have to deal with theivery, Broadway drama, romantic trouble, and theatrical deceptior. But for Scarlett, as they say, the show must go on!
Thanks for reading! You can pick this up at your library and bookstores, or on Barnes and Noble.com!
*Note: there may or may not be a new blog next week (There probably will be ;) ). I've been expecting a book from Barnes and Noble online (supposedly delievered yesterday... not really!). When I get it, I'll do a review! Until then... keep reading!
